Romantic Oceanfront Wedding

Hayley and Daniel or "Danny" met through mutual friends one night after a concert. It was the summer before their senior year of college in 2007! The meeting was very brief, but Hayley still recalls it because Daniel accidentally spoiled the surprise birthday party for Hayley and her twin sister. He didn't end up showing up to the birthday party, but they reconnected the following May. A few weeks later after graduation, they took a trip with a few friends to Nashville and have been inseparable since. Daniel proposed the Friday after Thanksgiving, this was the day they planned a nice dinner. Hayley was a nurse and had expected to work Thanksgiving but got it off. Daniel insisted they keep their dinner plans for Friday. They spent that morning running errands and cleaning the house before dinner. Before they headed to dinner Daniel handed Hayley a scrapbook filled with pictures of them together for the past 9 years and on the last page was a picture of Hayley holding a jersey with Daniel's last name on it, along with the words "Will you marry me?" and she said YES! They celebrated by having the nice dinner they had planned and meeting family and friends at a local bar.

They were engaged a year and a half before they started planning for the wedding. The vision for the wedding was to keep it a smaller destination wedding. They decided to get married in the Hilton Head area at Omni. It was the laidback but elegant style they were going for. The bridesmaid's colors were a mixed palette of blue, gray, beige, and florals. Hayley had her gown made by Meredith Stocklein's at Lein Studio to fit the overall look of the wedding but to stay within her budget. Danny wore a midnight blue navy tux and the groomsmen matched him. The flowers were a mixture of hydrangeas, veronica, roses, and greenery. The cake they decided to go with was half almond amaretto cream with raspberry filling and the other half pecan praline.  Instead of traditional favors, they donated in our guests' honor to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The institute had provided Hayley's sister with tremendous care while she was there.

One of Hayley and Daniel's favorite part of the day was doing their first look. Hayley had walked directly into a giant spider web and the photographer had to help remove the spider from her. The situation gave everyone a good laugh! Another special moment was that Hayley's bouquet was wrapped in the lace from her mother's dress that she wore in 1986. A bit of advice from the couple for planning your wedding, "I know it is so hard to do, but whoever said don't sweat the small stuff had it right. Overall, I was so calm during the planning process. Sure there are a few things that got me frazzled, and I did feel anxious and stressed about the wedding until the morning of, but I tried hard to move past it and accept what was and just enjoy the day. It goes by quickly so don't waste it worrying about things you can't control!"
