A Romantic Blush Garden Wedding in Chattanooga

View More Photos

Peyton and Kaitlyn met in high school in their hometown church of Murfreesboro, Tennessee when they were just sixteen years old. Kaitlyn had walked in on the first day of school wearing hot pink tights and a floral print dress and it had caught Peyton's eye. It only took a few months of friendship to form before Peyton gathered the courage to ask Kaitlyn to prom. Little did they know that they would be saying "I do" seven years later after being high school sweethearts. After graduating from college Peyton went to grad school in Clarksville, TN and Kaitlyn landed a marketing job in Atlanta. They were 6 hours apart but when they did get to see each other they would always plan out special date nights. Peyton and Kaitlyn decided to go visit Arrington Vineyards in Franklin, TN. Kaitlyn was suspicious since she had been suspecting he would pop the question. After a day of sipping wine and strolling around Kaitlyn began to fell silly since he hadn't asked the question. They then headed over to a park they used to go to with their church youth group. They began walking and Kaitlyn soon noticed signs on the trees and when they got to the end there was a handmade wooden box witting on a bench next to the water. Peyton then got down on one knee and proposed, she said "YES!"

The venue they choose had more of an intimate setting wit ha garden ceremony space area surrounded by weeping willows and flowers. For colors, Kaitlyn originally planned to do blush for the bridesmaid's dresses and all-white flowers. But she eventually fell in love with ice blue dresses and blush and ivory flowers. The style was a more classic southern garden wedding but an elegant and romantic feel. The bride's attire was an open back gown with delicate beadwork that buttoned towards her lower back. The groom and groomsmen wore navy suits with light blue ties to match the bridesmaids. The flower girl wore a poofy skirt with a bow tie in the back. The flowers wore made out of dahlias, garden roses, peonies, ranunculus, and some greenery. The boutonnieres were a single spray rose with greenery on the sides.

For DIY décor, Kaitlyn's dad made a large wooden cross to display on the outdoor mantle for the ceremony. They also incorporated a candle unity ceremony while the maid of honor sang "Hill song". They also incorporated a memory table to represent their loved ones who had passed away. Their wedding cake was actually from Publix. They had two different cakes, one was a traditional three-tiered wedding cake with white buttercream frosting and strawberry filling on the inside. Another was Peyton's groom's cake which was an Oreo chocolate ganache cake. After looking into wedding favors, they decided to skip out on them.

Here is some advice from Peyton and Kaitlyn to use while planning your event, "The best piece of advice I listened to was to hire a day-of coordinator. Having Kate there gave me peace of mind as the bride and allowed my family members to enjoy the day to the fullest. Without her, I do not doubt that our wedding would not have run as smoothly as it did. She knew how to direct a large group of people without seeming too bossy, and she also did all of the communicating and event scheduling with our vendors. There were even a few last-minute mishaps that she fixed on the spot without me even noticing. I am forever thankful for her help and support that day. Even with all the planning and preparation you do leading up to your wedding day, you never know what could happen at the moment!"
