Bright Floral Spring Wedding

View More Photos

Katie and Jordan met while they both worked at a restaurant called Andy's that has recently been renamed to Hwy 55. Jordan was a cook at Andy's and Katie was a waitress and from there they had an instant spark. Little did Katie know, but Jordan was planning their engagement with their friend Dakota Hersey who also happen to be their photographer. Since Katie had recommended Dakota to some brides and brought her business, she in exchanged gave them a couples session.

Almost a year went by and they still had not set up a session, but Jordan had privately messaged Dakota to see if she would reach out to Katie about planning their couple session. Dakota later contacted Katie and set up a date for the pictures. The weather made them change locations and Jordan was freaking out the whole time! They later found another location and Jordan gave Dakota the signal that he was getting ready to propose. Jordan then got down on one knee and asked Katie to marry him. Katie's mom and her dog Opie had secretly been watching the whole thing and ran to them after she had said "YES!" They spent the rest of the night at the surprise engagement party that Jordan had planned with both their families and closest friend.

Katie and Jordan leaned more to the traditional side when it came to their wedding vision. They wanted to stay very simple but with beautiful spring colors. Katie had always wanted to get married in her parent's front yard and that's exactly where the wedding took place. On the property, they have three mini donkeys and a horse and during the ceremony, they all came over to see what was going on. The reception was held at Hamstead Acres right across the street and the building is the building that Katie went to Sunday school in.

In the south, they have a tradition called "bury the bourbon" in which a month before the wedding the bride and groom bury a bottle of bourbon upside down at the wedding ceremony site. This tradition is supposed to ward off any bad weather on the day of the wedding. On the wedding day, the couple digs it up together and they drink it with their bridal party. It worked out for Katie and Jordan!

Katie wore a dress that was designed by Pronovias out of Barcelona. The dress had layers of lace that were super light and comfortable. Jordan chose to wear a vest and no jacket, it made for more of a casual look. The advice Katie and Jordan want to share is to not get hung up on the small details. Planning a wedding can be stressful but they want to tell you guys to enjoy it. They ended their night by watching fireworks with family and friends.
