High school sweethearts move out of the way for these elementary school sweethearts! All throughout their K-12 education, they never dated. Phillip and Kristen’s love story began when they were just five years old! Phillip moved to Richmond, Virginia where Kristen was living for medical school, this was finally where their love story would begin.

Years later, they set off on a bicoastal trip so that Phillip could interview for residency programs. Being as close as they are it was difficult for him to hide the ring. It went to interviews with him and stayed hidden in his coat pocket so that Kristen wouldn’t find it while doing laundry. Rain ruined Phillip’s plan to propose at the beach on the first day that they arrived in San Francisco. The weather cleared up and Phillip pulled the car over as fast as he could and proposed to Kristen on the most beautiful beach! Happily ever after began that day after Kristen said yes to spending the rest of her life with Phillip! The couple spent the night celebrating in Portland and ended their trip in Seattle.

Kristen had always been inspired by having a classic and romantic wedding. She always pictured the men dressed in black tuxedos, chandeliers, and all around elegance. The couple loved the natural beauty that their venue had to offer. They loved the colors gold, blush, and burgundy.

It was very important to Kristen and Phillip that they have a band at the wedding. Having a band allowed them to have the epic dance party that their guests would remember forever! The dance floor was packed the entire night! Kristen’s favorite part of the night was her first dance with her dad. She says that it was the perfect way to incorporate a happy memory about her mom into the special day. She also had a charm on her bouquet with a picture of her mother to help her remember that she was close to Kristen throughout the day even though she couldn’t be there.

Kristen and Phillip advise other couples to be able to let things go if it isn’t “perfect”. They said that their wedding day went by so fast that there wasn’t time to worry about all of the little things that could have gone wrong. Focus on a few things that are really important to you and the rest of the details will fall into place.
