How to Find the Perfect Wedding Venue

If you're just starting your search for the perfect wedding venue, we've got some helpful tips to get you started!

Start off by keeping your dates flexible! The more open you are to different dates, the more availability your perfect wedding venue will have once you find it. You can begin by creating a list of options you like, but before you start scheduling any tours you'll need to decide on a few things beforehand. First, know your budget! There is no good reason to tour a venue that is three times more than you can afford. Be realistic about what your budget is and know your number before you start working on your venue search.

Look for any bonus extras that may be included with the venue, extras could be tables, chairs, linens, or even a venue coordinator. Adding these items can be really expensive if it's not already included and can cost an additional hundred or even thousands of dollars. You should also consider things like Bridal Suites and Grooms Quarters because you'll need somewhere to get ready for the day. Next, look at capacity, which is an easy way to cross some options off your list. You'll want to know if your venue is going to be big enough to fit the size of the crowd you're planning for. Don't forget to think about space needed for things like a dancefloor, buffet table, DJ/band, and a bar. Sometimes when you see full capacity numbers, they don't take these things into account. You always want to ask your venue manager specific questions about the capacity available.

Next on the list is style! Make sure you like how your venue looks and how it will affect your design budget. For example, venues that have an amazing natural backdrop won't need as many flowers at your ceremony site than a completely blank canvas. You should also always take the time to research reviews for any venue your considering as well as ask your other wedding vendors for referrals. Not every single review needs to be five stars but if you see a trend of negative feedback, make note of it!
