A Blush Military Wedding in Virginia

View More Photos

Sam and John first met at Purdue University when Sam’s go-kart racing team held a callout with the Navy. They became friends which led to moreand as Sam says,“the rest is history”.

That history included a special blue go-kart named the “mini-blue beast”, the go-kart made a debut on their wedding day after Sam’s dad had surprised them by bringing it all of the way from Indiana. This was one of their favorite parts of their military wedding other than being able to have all of their friends and family in the same room.

Sam declares herself as an avid aviation enthusiast which inspired john to propose to her on a Cesena sunset flight above New York City!

When it came time to plan their wedding, Sam knew that she wanted to bring the outside in with the theme “romantic candlelit walk in the park”. They opted for a traditional wedding at a beautiful church in Virginia. After all they do say that Virginia is for lovers!

Their blush military wedding was complete after they walked through a famous military tradition, the arch of swords. Another military tradition they incorporated into their romantic church wedding was the groom and groomsmen attire, they wore their military uniforms.

They had their reception at the Half Moone Venue where their theme came alive being right on the water and being able to bring trees inside to get the best of all worlds!

Right outside of the Half Moone venue was the Battleship Wisconsin, John and Sam both work for the Navy so incorporating many military traditions was very important tothem.

Their colors were forest green, blush pink, and gold. They incorporated these colors into their programs, flowers, dresses and even the lighting of the venue.

The most important thing to Sam and John as they were planning the wedding was being able to relive their special day for the years to comethrough pictures and videos. They also had a photobooth so that all of their guests could look back andcherish the memories of that day as well.
