Outdoor Fall Wedding

View More Photos

In New England, the weather can certainly be unpredictable. The summers tend to be unbearable, the winters freezing, and the spring can be a mixture of the two. Fortunately, Cinzia and Johnny were married on a warm fall day at the Saphire Estate in Sharon, Massachusetts. Nestled along the banks of Lake Massapoag, Saphire Estate was the perfect location to say I do for this fall wedding.

Cinzia was originally born in South Africa, but grew up in Massachusetts. The pair met through a mutual friend in high school. Johnny was a Freshman and Cinzia was a Sophomore when they were introduced on a quiet snowy night. From that moment on, the pair became inseparable.

Johnny’s proposal was the perfect Valentine’s Day surprise! Johnny had told Cinzia’s mother of the proposal, who had, in turn, told her sister. The couple had a lunch reservation, and tickets to see one of their comedians. When they arrived home, Cinzia opened the front door and the entire apartment was covered in rose petals. Johnny told her to follow the petals, which led her to their bedroom. On the bed, there were a dozen roses, a stuffed animal, and a card on the bed. Still not realizing what was happening, Cinzia began to read the card. Johnny had taken the time to list out all of the things that he loved about her and ended it with, “and for all of those reasons…” When Cinzia lowered the card, Johnny was down on one knee with her Grandmother’s ring.

Cinzia and Johnny immediately knew that they wanted a fall wedding. Cinzia used to work at a bridal salon, so the couple knew that burgundy and blush would be the perfect color palette to make their dream a reality. The bridesmaids each wore a stunning Sangria colored dress with a dramatic cowl back detail. Cinzia’s stunning A-line gown was the exact opposite of what the bride had originally envisioned. Cinzia originally dreamed of a mermaid, with sleeves and a dramatic back. Once she tried on her gown, the bride knew instantly that this was the one. The men were styled in a classic charcoal tuxedo, with Sangria colored vests and ties. The charcoal compliments the color very well, and brought the entire vision together.

The most important part to the couple was the venue. The bride had seen it on a bridal website and instantly fell in love with how beautiful it was. They went and saw three other venues before Saphire but instantly knew, when they pulled in the driveway, that it was the one. The day that they toured the venue, there was a wedding for 150 people that was in the process of being set up. This allowed them to truly feel what their day would feel like. Saphire was intimate and comfortable to them, and it felt just right.

There were so many elements that were important to the couple. Cinzia’s rings all came from the women in her family. The bride’s engagement ring was her Grandmothers, her wedding ring was her mothers, and Johnny’s ring was his Grandfathers. Another special tribute was in her flowers. King Protea’s are the national flower of South Africa and was incorporated into the arrangements. That is such a beautiful tribute to the bride’s home and heritage.

Johnny and Cinzia’s advice for newly engaged couples is to not feel obligated to do anything. Make sure that everything is what you truly want. Another tip is to not to overshare all the details to too many people. Everyone has opinions and it is easy to lose focus on your wedding with a sea of voices. And lastly, have fun! The only way people will know if something goes wrong is if you let them know.
