There are so many traditional aspects when it comes to a wedding. But just like incorporating tradition and heritage into a wedding, you also have to make sure that it is fun! Jocelyn and Jason’s wedding was able to fuse traditional Chinese traditions while adding whimsical elements to match their playful personalities.

Jason and Jocelyn first met during Jocelyn’s first dragon boat season at Centre Island. Though not on the same team, all members had to wait on a ferry for passage. The pair were waiting in line for the ferry when they decided to pass the time and talk. Jocelyn and Jason continued their conversation all throughout the ferry ride! But before Jason could get Jocelyn’s contact information, they both got lost in the crowd as they departed. But that didn’t stop Jason. He decided to find Jocelyn on social media and got her contact information! One month later, Jocelyn and Jason began dating.

Jason’s proposal has us swooning! Jason and Jocelyn decided to do some traveling on a Mediterranean cruise. The cruise arrived at the first port in Corfu, Greece in the early morning. Since there wasn’t much open, the couple decided to go to the Old Fort. The couple found a little hidden alley that took them to a gorgeous lookout of the island and clear blue water. Jocelyn began wandering around when Jason asked for her to come over. That is where he took out the ring and asked her to marry him.

Jocelyn and Jason wanted their wedding to be romantic and playful. The couple envisioned their wedding to be intimate with 150 of their closest friends and family. The bride and groom tied the knot this past August at the Richmond Hill Country Club in Toronto, Canada, a beautiful venue that is perfect for indoor and outdoor weddings!

We are obsessed with Jocelyn’s beautiful A line wedding gown that was purchased at Blue Ivory Bridal! We love the classic strapless sweetheart neckline with cascading layers of chiffon. For Jason, the men were handsome wearing a blue suit from Indochino. Jason and Jocelyn chose shades of blush pink with hints of gold. The bridesmaids were allowed to choose the style the best suited their body type and we think these women look stunning.

Jason and Jocelyn felt it was important to honor their Chinese heritage. In order to do so, the couple chose to hold a Chinese tea ceremony. During the ceremony, the couple serves tea to the groom’s parents and elders in order of seniority, which is then followed by serving of tea to the bride’s family. After each elder member takes a sip of tea, they hand the couple an envelope containing either money or jewelry. The tea ceremony is meant as a symbol of respect for the family and we think that Jason and Jocelyn accomplished this beautifully.

We love the fusion of whimsical and tradition in Jocelyn and Jason’s wedding and we hope you do too!
