It is so easy to get caught up in the details of planning of your wedding, that it is very easy to forget the marriage portion of your wedding. After all, the day is about you and your partner making a lifetime commitment to love one another. The Bible contains scripture that beautifully conveys your love for your partner, hope, and joy for your future together. In years past, a couple would have a trusted family member or friend recite your favorite scripture or the congregation would recite The Lord’s Prayer. But now, the options are endless! We have included some meaningful ways to incorporate scripture into your ceremony.

Guest Book

In the past decade, guest books have ceased to become a book that collects dust on a shelf, and instead become a major design element in the home. Guest books can be signing their name on canvas or letter, thumbprints on art, or even writing on globes. Recently, bibles have become a popular use of Guests books. Guests can find their favorite scripture and write an inspirational message for the couple. After the wedding, couples can use their Bibles as a family heirloom and pass it down for future generations.

Ceremony Decor

What better way to make share your sentiments than being surrounded by scripture that says what emotions cannot? Some popular options include having Bible Verses displayed at the beginning of the ceremony site, along the aisles, or even above the altar.

Programs

Programs are an excellent source to incorporate scripture. Guests can take to heart the commitment for your love, devotion, and commitment to one another. You can choose for a short passage, or include chapters such as The Lord’s Prayer.

Unity Ceremony

Over the past decade, unity ceremonies have increased in popularity. Gone are the days where a unity candle or a sand ceremony were the only options to personalize your ceremony. One of our favorite trends is the cord of three strands. The cord of three strands are to represent the Bride, Groom, and the Holy Spirit. Many couples choose to have the strands attached to a board, but others choose to forgo the board altogether and lay the cords on the couples’ hands.

Popular Bible Verses for Your Wedding

So you have figured out that you want scripture in your ceremony, now you must decide which one? Depending on your faith, there are many options in The Bible that speak of love and marriage. One of the most popular chapters is 1st Corinthians 13, also known as the Love Chapter. However, that is not the only piece of scripture that would be ideal for weddings. Genesis 2:24-28, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Matthew 19:4-6, Mark 10:9, 1st John 4:19, Jeremiah 29:11, Song of Songs 8:6-7, Ruth 1:16-17, and Ephesians 5:25-29 are all excellent choices.

No matter how you decide to incorporate scripture during your ceremony, just remember that, at the end of the day, the whole point of the wedding is for you and your partner to celebrate your love in a lifelong commitment.

Happy Planning!
