  • How long have you been in business and in the wedding industry?

I picked up a camera in 2011, but really started shooting weddings in 2014 as an Associate Photographer. EMP really took off in 2016.

  • What brought you into the wedding industry?

I fell in love with my wedding photographers! I thought, "how cool would it be to be a part of people's lives?"

  • What is a lesson you've learned since being in the wedding industry?

That there is SO much more to being a wedding photographer than just taking photos! There is a website, hosting, SEO, social media, insurance, backups, etc! The list goes on and on!

  • What is your favorite part about the wedding industry?

I LOVE seeing all the new and creative things that couples incorporate into their wedding day that just screams: This Is Us! My favorite thing thus far were beer glasses that had the latitude and longitude on the glass of the ceremony location.

  • What is your favorite part about a wedding in general?

I really love the anticipation of that first look. No matter if it's a "First Look" or an Aisle Look, having the couple see each other for the first time always makes my heart flutter. And yes, I know that sounds totally cheesy!

  • What makes you/your business different?

This is one of the hardest questions of them all! How do I stand out?! I am a firm believer that your wedding photos should be a reflection of who you are as a couple. Photographers should not be putting you in a niche to fit their portfolio or their Instagram feed.

  • Tell us about one of your favorite couples, weddings, or projects!

One of my favorite weddings was a small elopement between Ryan and Jason in Cades Cove. I can remember them showing up in their pressed suits and handmade boutonnieres and they were so nervous! Ah! I get goosebumps just thinking about it. They were one of the sweetest, genuine, and happy couples I have every photographed.

  • Are you seeing any trends in what couples are wanting for their wedding day when they meet with you?

Couples are really wanting that "us" factor in their wedding day, which is great! And usually that "us" factor is incorporating their family and friends into their wedding day more and more! We love it! I mean, all their family and friends are absolutely important on a wedding day, but they are also important post-wedding as well. They will continue to support and encourage couples as they continue on marriage journey.

  • What do you wish every couple knew before they walked in your doors for a consult?

I just want them to remember that I have been where they are! There is so much stuff that I didn't know when I got married. Ask. Questions. You don't know what you don't know! Ha!

  • What piece of advice do you have for couples planning their wedding?

Don't feel like you have to throw yourself into wedding planning the day after you get engaged. Enjoy the moment. Enjoy being engaged. There is always time to plan.

  • What can couples expect when they meet and book with you?
  • You will meet an introverted extrovert who really just wants you to be who you are. No pressure. Seriously. Sometimes I get just as nervous as you do.

  • Is there anything else you would like us to share or highlight? Let us know!

I am a Smoky Mountain Permitted Photographer! Woot woot!
