Wine Country Color of the Year Styled Shoot

View More Photos

Have you ever heard the saying that it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day? While most couples don’t wish for a rainy wedding, we have to think that the saying is true. Today’s blog showcases the beautiful Two Sisters Farm in Temecula Wine Country. While preparing for this photo shoot, none of the vendors were hoping for rain, but Janita Mestre Photography was able to capture the vibrancy and beauty that the rain brought out in her photos.

The shoot was inspired by the Pantone color of the year, ultra violet. In addition to the deep purple, pink, white, lavender, and green accents were used to make the scenery pop. These shades of purple have a very calming feeling to them, which is only accentuated by the rain. There is something about seeing the water droplets on the flowers that gives the photos a whole new feeling. It almost feels as if this shoot was planned for a rainy day on purpose.

The styling of this shoot was done beautifully by Tilly Mestre. The elaborate tablescape gorgeously combines whimsy and sophistication. The huge flower centerpiece catches the eye first, but the smaller details should not be overlooked. The mismatched candles combined with the geode name tags, traditional cream china with modern gold flatware, and the crisp white napkins against various purple accents. This table is anything but boring. We love how Tilly really thought outside of the box in terms of decorations. She did more than just flowers and candles, and she was not afraid to push the limits of what went with what. Tilly knows that things do not have to “match” to go together.

The beautiful cakes bring in all the elements already being used in the shoot, without being over the top. The purple ombre of the main cake gives plenty of color to the table, while the topper by Zcreate designs gives it an extra bit of whimsy. The other two cakes have their own special elements. One cake brings a new meaning to a geode cake. We have all seen the cakes that look like the rock is carved out, but we love the simplicity of the white chocolate geode-themed toppers on this one. The third cake is the most traditional of the three, with its white buttercream frosting and only flowers to embellish.

The style of this shoot is hard to classify under traditional headings, because it combines so many great elements. It has a mix of boho, elegant, and romantic wine country elements that somehow combine to make one gorgeous event.
