Wedding Pro Spotlight: Lindsey Mae Events & Designs

Welcome to another installment of our Vendor Spotlight series, where we introduce you to some of our favorite wedding vendors in Tennessee. Allow us to introduce you to wedding planner Lindsey Ritter of Lindsey Mae Events & Designs.

Graduating from Carson Newman University in 2012 with a focus on Interior Design, Lindsey quickly realized that her passion for design and working with people extended beyond homes, and into events as well. Though Lindsey Mae Events & Designs is a wedding-focused business, she still makes time for interior design projects.

“I have always loved DIY crafts since I was a little girl,” Lindsey says. “I was always making something from crafts to baking… After graduating, I realized that I didn't just want to design homes but I wanted to be a event stylist and planner and make people happy. I then realized how much I loved weddings and all the happiness that they bring to my clients.”

Now, the mission of Lindsey Mae Events & Designs is to help brides (and some grooms!) plan their perfect, stress-free day from start to finish! Lindsey’s team does everything from finding the vendors and venue, keeping on budget, decor design and implementation, and handling all of the details and logistics for the wedding day.

When it comes to working weddings, Lindsey finds the whole experience both creatively and personally rewarding.

“I love the atmosphere and the happiness that I see on not only the bride and groom’s faces but also the guests. The different design aspects of each wedding would be my other favorite part. I love creating each brides vision that is unique to each one of them.”

As a native to East Tennessee, she loves living and working in what she says is “the best place in the world.” And we tend to agree, of course! After travelling other places, there’s just something about southern hospitality that Lindsey hasn’t seen matched yet.

Obviously, Lindsey’s interior design background gives her a keen ability to translate her clients’ personality and taste into her work. When a couple comes to her without ideas or unable to narrow down their choices, she brings them back to the basics, asking about favorite color choices, style preferences, and if they could picture their perfect day, what it would look like.
We had a chance to ask Lindsey for her input on current wedding trends, advice for couples and more… here’s what she had to say!

What’s the most important thing that couples need to know when hiring a wedding planner?

They should meet with their wedding coordinator prospects in person, if possible, before hiring them. You really need to have a connection with your planner. We are there with you for one of the most important days of your life, and you really want to be able to form a relationship with your planner and feel comfortable to reach out to them for anything.

What changes have you seen in the way couples approach wedding planning over the years you have been in business?

They are hiring more full service planning then just day of coordination. Brides are realizing how much goes into planning a wedding, especially if they want to achieve a Pinterest-looking wedding.

Let’s talk about the current wedding trends – what are you seeing in weddings in 2017 that you are absolutely loving?

Lots of greenery, neutrals, rose golds and dreamy weddings. I love that donuts and macaroons are taking over the cupcake dessert trends!

If you could give couples one piece of advice, what would that be?

Spend the most money on what matters the most to you. Hire credited vendors based on ratings and licensing not just on pricing.

How can couples make a wedding unique?

Add their personal family touches such as photos, favorite foods, unique rituals (if any), family heirlooms, details in the decor that symbolize or represent them, or personalized vows.

We’re so proud to call Lindsey Mae Event Planning & Design a Bride Link Preferred Professional! To learn more about Lindsey, and to contact her about working her magic at your wedding, you can view her vendor listing here.
