Vendor Spotlight : Everbright Photography

“Thinking back to portraits of our great-grandparents, it is usually the wedding portrait that is passed down to show us what they were like and just a little glimpse into their lives and personalities. We want to make the same kind of art now for our friends.”

Family. In everything that they do as wedding and engagement photographers, Stuart and Marisa Simmons - the husband and wife team behind Everbright Photography - are inspired by family.

“Watching a new family come to be,” they say, “reminds us of our own vows and it is exciting to be a small part in the very beginnings of a marriage and family.”

Thinking of a family’s legacy, their focus is on capturing images that can be cherished for generations to come. For 2017, Everbright Photography is offering parent albums, something that couples can give to their parents as a thank you gift, or the parents of the bride and groom can order themselves as a keepsake.

“When your wedding is over, the vows read, toasts done, honeymoon is enjoyed and you are settled into your new home, your photographs will be there to help you recall the treasured memories. Many years from now, those wedding portraits will show you family long gone and then reflect that special time in your life to your children and grandchildren.”

With such aa family-focused business, it only makes sense that Stuart and Marisa work as a team in their photography business. Stuart loves Cleveland Indians baseball and making new friends; Marisa is an avid reader and has a degree in English literature, but when it comes to being artist and photographer, these two are inseparable.

As relatively new arrivals to Tennessee, they count it a career highlight that every time they photograph a wedding or portrait session, they make new friends.

“There are so many friendly people in east Tennessee and of course, the mountains are a gorgeous setting for photography. Neither of us were born or raised here, we live here because we love it. So it is very special to get to know new friends in this area, everyone has been so kind and welcoming.”

When asked how a couple can make their wedding unique, the Everbright team encourages couples to incorporate details that hold meaning for them personally.

“Whether it reflects a hobby you share, a heritage item from family or something handmade, these can really bring your personality into your wedding. Your special day should be about you as a couple and as individuals; we love to see personal interests reflected in your day, from regional dishes at your reception to handmade things like handkerchiefs or jewelry in your wedding outfits. It is all about getting your personality to make an impact on your day.”

While they love being trusted by a couple to make their art fit the vision for their wedding, Stuart and Marisa use in-person consultations to find out the tastes of each of their clients. In addition, they enjoy kicking off their friendship with the bride- and groom-to-be during an engagement session, which is a great time to have fun and get to know each other before the big day.

Lastly, asked to give couples their number one piece of advice, this is what they had to say:

“Your marriage is only beginning at your wedding, so building up your relationship even in your engagement season should be a priority too. Don't let the stress of wedding planning get too much for you, delegate and leave time to focus on your continuing love after your big day.”
