Our love story….

Jimmy and I first met August of 2007 and didn’t meet again until October of 2010 when we ended up working for the same company.  It wasn’t until August of 2011 that Jimmy and I first began dating.  I was living in Atlanta at the time preparing to move to Carmel, IN for my job in October 2011, he was here in the Knoxville area.  We weren’t quite sure how everything was going to work out, long distance relationships are extremely hard but we decided that we were both committed to seeing where things were going to lead.  After a very long year of long distance dating I moved here to be with him and his daughter, Cassidy, in October of 2012.  The rest is history.

How he proposed…

When Jimmy proposed I was caught completely off guard!  It was January 18, 2013 (a Friday) and we had got about 4 inches of snow that day so we were both working from home and Cassidy was out of school.  We had decided in between working that we would clean the house so we wouldn’t have to work on it over the weekend; he was taking me to Gatlinburg to celebrate my birthday.  I was in the bathroom cleaning a mirror when Jimmy walked in and said Cassidy had asked for me to come look at a prom dress she was thinking about.  I went in the kitchen and was talking to her when I felt him behind me, I turned around and he got down on one knee!  He told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him!  I asked him if it was a joke and he opened the Fabergé egg which was the ring box, I believe I stared at him for a little bit and he asked if I heard him…LOL, and I said yes!

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting or time for him to have proposed!  Cassidy was there to be apart of it all, which was perfect, and she also captured pictures!  To top it all off he had my brother and his wife, from Atlanta, surprise me that night at dinner!  So we had the whole weekend to celebrate with family!

My advice for brides planning a wedding…

The advice I have for other brides planning a wedding is to not forget why you’re getting married!  Try not to get so lost in all the details that you forget that all that really truly matters in the end is you’re marring the man of your dreams and to try and remember to enjoy the process.  You only do this once and as stressful as this time in your life can be, it should also be fun!

Stay tuned! We will be sharing this sweet couple’s wedding day at Butterfly Gap Retreat with you too!
