Engagement Photo Themes and Ideas

We have published some amazing engagement sessions on The Bride Link over the past year filled with so much creativity and unique ideas. This post is dedicated to bringing a few of our favorite engagement shoot themes together to inspire you with great ideas for your own engagement session! We would love to know which engagement session below is your favorite, and even better, tell us what engagement photo ideas you love!

Garden Themed Engagement Shoot

I can’t get enough of this incredibly romantic, rustic engagement shoot by F/Stop Poetry Photography. I can literally feel the love of the couple, Jim and Michelle, as I look through the beautiful photos! The scenic backdrop for the engagement session is lush with white blooms, vibrant greens, and of course the rustic barn. Michelle looks absolutely stunning with her soft waves flowing, natural makeup, and casual neutral fashion choice. Similarly, Jim is handsome in a summer plaid button down and jeans that are the perfect complement to Michelle and the rustic scene. Rustic, Outdoor Themed Engagement Session

What a stunning outdoor engagement session in Knoxville, Tn! Although Michael and Heather look like models, their intimate embraces and sweet poses in these photos testify that they are a real couple madly in love! Photographer,  John Shim, could not have asked for a more romantic setting. Thanks to the rain that stopped shortly before they began shooting, a rolling fog appeared creating the perfect backdrop.

I love that Michael and Heather chose simple attire for this shoot. It makes me feel like I have been invited into their everyday life which is exactly what a successful engagement shoot should portray. Remember to be yourself when planning your engagement shoot, and wear something that makes you feel like you!

Picnic Themed Engagement Photos

Renee and Adam had such a unique idea to incorporate their love for wine and picnics into their engagement session! It is always fun when a couple makes an engagement session their own.  These swoon-worthy photos were taken at a gorgeous plantation with stunning outdoor fields and gardens to walk through as well as unique bricked buildings for some super-fun, artistic photos!  Wedlock Images took all of these breathtaking photos, which display both the beautiful setting and beautiful couple.

Camping Themed Engagement Photo Ideas

I just love it when a photographer gets super creative with their couple’s engagement photos! JoPhoto styled this adorable camping engagement shoot filled with so many authentic details. From the old fashioned tent, to the lanterns and s’mores, this styled shoot has everything a couple would need for a romantic camping trip. Consider doing a themed shoot for your engagement photos such as a picnic theme or barn themed engagement shoot.

Christmas Themed Engagement Session

For this Christmas engagement style shoot, the designers at The Bride Link and Custom Love Gifts teamed up with JoPhoto and L.B. Floral to inspire newlyweds everywhere with ideas to make their first Christmas together unique and memorable. These ideas were focused around projects couples could create together and items that could be customized with their new last name. To showcase these ideas in a unique way, a full living room set was designed among the cozy Christmas trees at Bluebird Christmas Tree Farm. With the vision of bringing the warmth of a home Christmas to the rustic beauty of the outdoors, the rows of Virginia pine and Fraser firs created the perfect “walls” for this couple’s first home Christmas. Be inspired by this Christmas style shoot for your own engagement photos and for your first Christmas together as newlyweds!

Record Store Engagement Shoot Idea

I love love love this downtown Knoxville engagement shoot by Blue Vinyl Creative. This couple is so fun and creative, which definitely shows through in their engagement session. The two love birds, Jordan and Hannah, look so at home in the Disc Exchange record store. What a unique location for an engagement shoot! While looking at these photos, I feel like a “fly on the wall” getting a peek into their love story. How sweet is that? As if this couple wasn’t cool enough, they perfectly transition from record-store-hip, to downtown chic and trendy in the second half of the post. The couple used the alley ways to their advantage, which added a nice industrial backdrop to the images.

Country, Sunflower Engagement Photos

This country engagement session by Jayson Mullen Photography and Design is beyond adorable! Between the sunflowers, romantic poses, and adorable props, I can’t decide which photo is my favorite! Well, I guess I can just admit every photo is amazing and perfectly captured Paula and James’ love and chemistry.

Valentines Themed Engagement Photos

From stylish fashion, adorable Valentines themed props, and great pose ideas, this Valentines engagement shoot by Elizabeth Nord Photography truly has it all! I’m so in love with Amanda’s red and black lace dress, and Tyler’s 1950s themed hairstyle and black and white button-up and tie. It all goes together so perfectly! Elizabeth brought the most adorable props to add a little Valentines Day flair to this shoot. My favorite prop are the red and white balloons. They are playful yet festive – perfect for a Valentines Day couples shoot! Enjoy, and be inspired for your own Valentines Day themed photo session!
