Wedding Planner in Knoxville : Southern Bliss Weddings

I had the pleasure of interviewing Knoxville wedding planner, Amanda Graves, owner at Southern Bliss Weddings, and what a fun gal she is to hang out with! Every question was filled with laughs and giggles, but when it came down to the serious stuff, one thing was for sure… Amanda is head-over-heels and completely obsessed with love, romance, and weddings. I thought to myself, “This is the type of person I would want to plan my wedding… someone that would be as excited about my wedding as I am!” Enjoy this interview and get to know the face behind the business of Southern Bliss Weddings!

ell me about how your passion for weddings started?

I was a bridesmaid in 5 different weddings, and that is where I started to notice my love for weddings. I started working at White Lace and Promises, and this experience only fueled my passion for weddings. I helped brides find the dress of their dreams, but I found myself wanting to help them with other aspects of their wedding as well. I wanted to take my service for brides beyond helping them find their dress, and this is when the idea of Southern Bliss Weddings began.

What is your favorite part about working with brides/couples?

I love to watch how couples interact with each other – you know, the quirky things they do that make their relationship unique. I love to hear their inside jokes, watch their sweet glances, and learn their personalities. It’s important to me to be personable with couples and build a relationship with them, so knowing their story and why they love each other is essential to me.

What makes you unique?

I’m obsessed with weddings and love. This love and passion for romance and weddings is obvious when couples work with me. I never seem to get tired of all the wedding details, and I think that is important in order to make each bride I work with feel that her wedding is special and important. This is not just a job to me. It’s a passion and an obsession.

How do you deal with the stress of the wedding day?

I’m honestly use to stressful situations and fast-pace atmospheres. I work with bride’s everyday, and I’ve learned to deal with pressure, deadlines, and details. I’m simply use to it and have learned to make the best of each stressful situation that arrises.

Tell me a fun fact about yourself.

I’m totally cheesy. For example, Valentines Day has always been my favorite holiday, because it’s so incredibly cheesy and “lovey dovey” (it actually tops Christmas for me!) Around Valentines Day, I like to go to Hallmark and sit in the floor and read the Valentines Day cards for fun. I know… don’t judge (with a laugh.)

What advice would you give brides?

Simply, enjoy planning your wedding. It’s one of the most special days you’ll experience in your lifetime. Stressing over the small things while planning your wedding could make you dread it, and you’ll want to get it over with as soon as possible. If we’re all lucky, we only get once to walk down the aisle, so SOAK IT ALL UP!

When you aren’t planning weddings, what do you like to do for fun?

I love to hang out with my husband and dog. Sundays are my favorite, because we watch Nascar and NFL football. My husband and I also like to jump in his truck and just ride around looking at houses and views. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that are fun to me.

l me about a moment at a wedding you’ll never forget!

I was planning a wedding at The Museum of Appalachia, and I had the most relaxed bride ever. Her bridesmaids choreographed a rap with the Fresh Prince of Bell Air as the tune. They filled in their own words with hilarious rhymes about the bride. It was awesome! They all wore sunglasses and looked totally gangster. It was truly unforgettable.
