Vintage Southern Wedding in Traditional Church

Southern Style Wedding from Hannah Seay Photography

If an Alabama Crimson Tide wedding cake doesn’t say Southern then I don’t know what does. This fun-loving couple incorporated plenty of vintage accents with traditional Southern flare to make this rustic wedding their own. Besides the bride’s stunning gown, my favorite element is the vintage inspired reception. The dessert and buffet tables are absolutely divine with burlap runners and plenty of Southern food goodness. Here is one more little detail that makes this wedding “sweet as pie:” the bride and groom’s backstory as told to the photographer from Hannah Seay Photography!

“‘After about a year of us being friends, he started asking me out on a date,’ Megan said. Thinking it might tarnish the friendship they had, Megan said she came up with a number of reasons not to go on that first date. ‘I’d say, “No, we’re too good of friends, we have all these mutual friends, I don’t think it will work. I don’t think of you that way,”‘ Megan said. ‘Then finally one night he said, “Just give me one date. Just one date, that’s it, and if you don’t feel any different about me and you still want to be friends, that’s fine, we’ll go back to being friends.”‘ But they never went back to being just friends. The self-described ‘quirky’ couple haven’t been apart since. The two fell in love and just months into the relationship the couple knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. ‘There’s never a dull moment (with us),’ Megan said. Luke said for him, the wheels really got turning about marriage after Megan bought him a pair of tickets to the SEC Championship game. ‘I had to put the (marriage) plan in motion,’ he said. ‘I actually bought the ring the week of.’ But Luke really knew from the beginning he wanted Megan to be his wife. ‘He told one of his guy friends before we even started dating that if I ever gave him a chance, he was going to marry me,’ Megan said. Luke kept his word, and on December 23, 2012, he proposed.”
