5 Secrets to a Stress-Free Wedding

5 Tips to A Stress Free Wedding

Updated April 29, 2017

Angie Froemel of Absolute Wedding Perfection is a Knoxville wedding planner who loves helping brides have a stress free wedding through sharing wedding advice and helping them plan the weddings of their dreams!

In this post, Angie shares the five secrets to having a stress free wedding.

From the moment you say “yes”… let’s face it, you’ve not only accepted his proposal, you’ve basically taken on a second full-time job – planning a wedding.  And it’s a stressful job to say the least, one you have little to no training for!  So what can you do to make your wedding stress-free?  As a wedding coordinator at Absolute Wedding Perfection, one of my biggest goals is to make sure brides and their entire families get to actually enjoy the day and the planning process.  Here’s a little sneak peak at how:

1.  Meditate.  I’m not talking yoga and deep breathing necessarily.  I mean just sit and think about what your idea of a perfect wedding is.  That usually starts with answering some basic questions: Big or small?  Indoors or outdoors?   That will help narrow your options – there’s no need to tour every venue within a 50 mile radius!

2. Set a budget and stick to it.  This may mean some uncomfortable conversations with parents in the beginning, but it will save major stress down the road if you have clear guidelines about what you can spend and where the money is coming from.  Literally.  Think about a separate checking account or credit card just for wedding purchases.

3. Get Organized.  Before the contracts start coming in, go out and buy a giant 3-ring notebook that has dividers with pockets and carry it with you everywhere you go.

4. Create a wedding day timeline.   This will not only make sure everyone from Grandma to your DJ knows exactly where to be and when, but as you create your timeline, it will help you see areas that may need some extra attention – such as who is going to actually cut and serve the cake after you shove it lovingly in your husbands face?

5. Hire a Planner.  Don’t know how to create a timeline or need someone to execute it?  That’s what wedding planners are for!  There’s nothing that can make the planning process less stressful than hiring a coordinator you trust, then trust him/her!  If you are both on the same page from the get-go, your planner will take care of countless little details that you never even knew existed leading up to, and on, the wedding day.   This will allow you to look at the big picture – which is the most important part!
