Choosing a Dress for Your Body Shape

Gwen Wadley, from Nashville, Tennessee's David's Bridal, gives tips on how to choose the right wedding dress style for your body shape.

Watch a helpful video HERE  from Knoxville's Wedding Wonderland expert, Lisa Cacace-Vizer.

1. A-Line

A-Line is designed to hide the hips and accentuate the bust.

Notice how the eye is drawn to the model's waist instead of her hips. The detailed beading at the waste helps accentuate the waist as well.

2. Mermaid and Trumpet

Gwen says, "It takes a confident bride to wear a Mermaid or Trumpet dress."

Both Mermaid and Trumpet dresses hug the body showing off the bride's shape. If you want to show off your curves, then a Mermaid or Trumpet style wedding gown is exactly what you need!

3. Ball Gown

According to Gwen, Ball Gown dresses are designed for the bride "that wants to feel like a princess!" They are dramatic and whimsical.

4. Empire Waist

An Empire Waist dress is designed to accentuate the smallest part of the waist while bringing attention to the bust. The higher the gathers are to the bust line, the thinner the waist appears.

Rouching Secrets by Gwen

Gwen says, "Rouching, or gathered fabric, is a girls best friend!" Rouching makes a woman's bust appear bigger and her waist appear smaller.

Notice the rouching on the model's bust on the empire waist dress above.

If you are wanting to enhance your waist or make it appear slimmer, rouching at the waist will make this happen!

Above all you must feel comfortable and confident in your wedding dress!
